This week, Jackson County Legislature Chairman Theresa Cass Galvin announced that she will be introducing an Ordinance at the next Legislative Meeting on Monday, July 13 to bring the decision of what should be done with the Andrew Jackson statues to the November 2020 ballot.

“After receiving several messages and phone calls by the citizens of Jackson County, many had mixed thoughts on the removal of the statues. I felt that would be best for the citizens of Jackson County to make the decision,” Theresa Galvin said. “These statues do not belong to the County Executive or the County Legislature. The statues belong to the people of Jackson County and they have the right to decide on this important issue,” said Galvin.

On Thursday, June 25, County Executive Frank White, Jr. sent out a press release recommending that the two Andrew Jackson statues at the courthouses in Kansas City and Independence be removed.
