The Chairman of the Jackson County Legislature has issued the following statement on the audit report of Jackson County No-Bid Contracts and Other Expenditures released by the Office of Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway:

“The Jackson County Legislature in conjunction with the County Executive requested an independent audit by the Missouri State Auditor to provide assurance to all County elected officials and citizens of Jackson County that all assets of the County are safeguarded through proper internal controls that fully comply with applicable State and County laws.

“Staff of Jackson County are to be commended for fully cooperating with the process for the scope of work conducted by State Auditor Nicole Galloway and her staff.”

“The County Legislature will continue to strengthen oversight efforts of county operations and internal controls through policymaking measures to establish best practice standards that fall within the separation of powers of the existing Jackson County Charter.   I have confidence the County Executive will work to do the same within his delegation of charter duties and powers.”
