Volleyball teams will soon be working hard for a state title as the fall sports post-season is set to begin. The Class 5, District 7 tourney hosted by Lee Summit North is set to take place from October 17 to 24. Opening round action will be played on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the higher seeded teams. LS West, 21-8, is the top seed in the nine-team tourney and will host the Joplin/Ruskin winner at 5 p.m. Lee Summit North, 11-18, is the fifth seed and will visit number four seed St. Teresa’s in hopes of a win and advance to play again at the Broncos Fieldhouse. Lee Summit, 8-11, is the tourney’s number six seed and opens up at number three seeded Ray-Pec Panthers. Semifinal matches will be played on Saturday, Oct. 21 with the title match at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The St. Michael’s Guardians, 20-5, are the top seed in the Class 4, District 7 tourney set to be played at Pembroke Hill. It’s a nine-team tourney and the Guardians will open up against the Grandview/Raytown South winner at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18. With a win St. Michael’s will play a semifinal match at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 and then the tourney title match is set for 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23.

The Summit Christian Eagles, 17-6-2, will be in action in the Class 2, District 13 tourney set to be held at Holden High School. The Eagles are the number three seed in the seven-team event. The Eagles will open up with number six seed Barstow at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The Eagles with a win will have a semifinal match at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23 and the final is set for Tuesday Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. All team records listed as of press time.
