Cross Country success for area teams sends both individuals and teams to the state meet. State cross country meet set for Gans Creek in Columbia, MO on Saturday, Nov. 4. The Lee’s Summit Tigers boys team qualified as a team for the state event for the first time since 2004. LS North will be represented individually by state qualifiers Asa Johnson and Grace Cronk.

Summit Christian will be represented in both the Class 2 boys and Class 3 girls state cross country meet. Lucey Epema and Marina Parks will be competing in Class 3 while Marcus Verbrugge is the lone Eagle in Class 2.

LS West hosted a Class 4, District 6 soccer tourney. Titans opened up with a thrilling 2-1 OT win over rival Lee’s Summit. The Titans fell to Rockhurst 3-0 in a semifinal round match played on Monday, Oct. 30 to end their season.

St. Michael’s boys soccer team traveled to Van Horn for Class 3, District 7 soccer tourney. The top-seeded Guardians shutout Grandview 8-0 but then the season ended in a 2-1 loss to the host Falcons in a semifinal round match.

Summit Christian Eagles began play in the Class 2 District 7 soccer tourney on Halloween night and came away with an 8-0 win against Pleasant Hill. The second seeded Eagles advanced to a semifinal match on Thursday vs Barstow, the third seed. If the Eagles advanced the district title game it is set for Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. All tourney games are at Harrisonville High School.

The St. Michael’s Guardians volleyball team made the final four in Class 4 which meant a trip to Cape Girardeau, MO. where the state tourney is held at the Show-Me Center. The Guardians semifinal round match was against Incarnate Word. The other two teams playing are Festus and Jefferson City.

The LS West Titans volleyball team made the final four in Class 5 which means a trip to Cape Girardeau, MO. where the state tourney is held at the Show-Me Center. The Titans semifinal round match was against Francis Howell. The other two teams playing are Lafayette and Kickapoo.

Winter sports practices began on Monday, Oct. 30 for boys/girls basketball and girls wrestling.

Winter sports season practice begins Monday, Nov. 6 for boys wrestling and swim/dive teams.
