Did you know that one of Lee’s Summit’s most notorious citizens is buried in the Lee’s Summit Historic Cemetery? Cole Younger died in 1916 but his grave was decorated again this Memorial Day.

Cole Younger Days used to be celebrated in downtown Lee’s Summit. You can learn more about his life and times at the Lee’s Summit History Museum at 220 SW Main Street.

You can also learn about Western Missouri’s Burnt District at the museum meeting Sunday, Jun. 2 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker Tom Rafiner from the Missouri Speakers Bureau will share his presentation “Cinders and Silence” about this historic time. Members and guests are welcome to this free presentation.
