The morning of Monday, Aug. 12 saw coaches and players for many area fall sports teams begin their journey through the 2024 fall sports season. The first day of practice saw some teams begin their day pretty early as evidenced by the Lee’s Summit Tigers boys soccer team hitting the fields at Bud Hertzog Stadium just a few mins past 7 a.m.

Boys soccer is just one of many fall sports now preparing for the upcoming high school sports season. Both boys and girls cross country, boys swim and dive, girls tennis, girls golf, girls volleyball and the always popular football is now hard at work hoping to reach a championship conclusion to the season.

For fans, alumni and parents of these hard working student athletes it won’t be long now before they can see results from the hard work. The first football games under the Friday night lights is set for Friday, Aug. 30.

Other fall sports will hold scrimmages and jamborees as they get set for a new season. An example of that will be on display Saturday morning Aug. 24 when Lee’s Summit North Broncos softball hosts Holden, St. Michael’s and Summit Christian in a four-team jamboree.

No matter the sport or team you wish to follow soon the team practices only will stop and the games will begin. Then the fun of a chase for a championship will be on full display.
