Do you hear the sleigh bells? Secret Santa is coming to Lone Jack.

A very kind and generous Secret Santa has issued a holiday giving challenge to donors of the Lone Jack Historical Society. Double the impact of your gift through Christmas Eve.

Santa will match $500 in donations received by 11:59 pm on December 24, 2018, Christmas Eve. Donations go toward museum operation.

Donations may be made at www.historiclonejack.org through PayPal or credit card or by mailing a check to the Lone Jack Historical Society, POB 34, Lone Jack MO 64070, or coming by the museum during our winter weekend hours.

Santa Claus has a long history behind him. During the Civil War, Thomas Nast brought us the picture we now recognize as that “Jolly Old Elf” from Twas the Night Before Christmas. His Santa illustrations first graced the cover and inside pages of the Harper’s Weekly January 3, 1863 issue.

The historical society is planning a Commemoration of the battle as well as Lone Jack through the ages in 2019. Please support your local historical society so we can continue to offer educational and living history opportunities. The museum is solely staffed by volunteers.
