Repair operations are ongoing this morning at the downtown Jackson County Courthouse, 415 E. 12th Street, due to extensive flooding caused by a water main break on Thursday. At this time, the water has been removed from the basement of the courthouse and repairs are currently underway.

County staff and contractors will continue to work 24/7 until the downtown courthouse is fully operational. We are hopeful that the facility will be open for business on Monday, February 4.

Though the downtown courthouse is closed today, February 1, please remind citizens that they can still conduct business with the County’s Collection, Assessment and Recorder of Deeds departments at the Historic Truman Courthouse, 112 W. Lexington Ave in Independence, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

We would like to thank those who have assisted the County as we address this issue:
