The Kansas City Mavericks have been enjoying solid goal tending all season long thanks to Ben Halford, Mason McDonald and a Nick Schneider. Schneider came on board just before Christmas after the starter, McDonald, was unable to play due to injury.

His play in goal has been so solid that media members when describing another Mavs win say the team is “off the Schneid.”

The first year Maverick is enjoying his first full professional season after seeing limited action with the AHL’s Stockton Heat last season and in the 2015-16 season. Schneids is the team given nickname to Nick as he continues to become more popular with his new teammates.

Schneid’s favorite pro sports team is baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays. This is due to them being Canada’s baseball team. Nick hails from LeDuc, Alberta, Canada where his mom, dad, a sister along with a grandma are rooting him on from home.

Schneid’s favorite hockey memory so far is winning first career game at age 18 in the American Hockey League while playing for the Stockton Heat. The right-hander first put on a pair of skates at age six. Nick’s favorite website to visit daily is Twitter.

If not in pro hockey today Schneids feels he would be a teacher back home. The 21 year old’s favorite foods are pizza and pasta. Nick’s favorite sports movie is the hockey themed “Miracle.”

Following his playing days Schneids wishes to be remembered as someone who worked hard, was a good player who led the team.

Check out Schneids and the rest of the Mavericks when they host the Kalamazoo Wings on First Responders Night on Saturday, February 9. The fun begins inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena when the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
