Lee’s Summit CARES, in partnership with Mindful Momentum, will offer a one-hour workshop focusing on the benefits of mindfulness for parents. Introduction to Mindfulness will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 12 at Longview Farm Elementary, 1001 SW Longview Park Drive, Lee’s Summit.

During the one-hour class, participants will learn how to be present each day as well as the basics of mindfulness and how it relates to parenting.

The course is free, and online registration is available at this link. Participants may also register by mailing a completed form, available at http://www.LSCares.org/parenting, to ReDiscover, c/o Bev Hatley, 1555 NE Rice Rd., Lee’s Summit, Mo., 64086. Please register for the course by March 11.

The one-hour workshop will be presented by Robin Todd, a certified mindfulness instructor who owns Mindful Momentum. Todd, who earned her master’s degree in psychology from Avila University, is a former educator and has worked with children and adults in a variety of settings. She said her mission is to empower and inspire individuals and organizations to become more effective, efficient, productive and healthy in both their personal and professional lives through simple, mindful practices.

Lee’s Summit CARES has offered parenting education through the Love and Logic program for 19 years thanks to a collaborative relationship with Lee’s Summit CARES, the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and ReDiscover.
