The Lee’s Summit Kiwanis Club and Developing Potential, an organization serving adults having developmental disabilities, partner throughout the year to support the Kiwanis Aktion Club. Aktion Club, a Kiwanis International program, provides an opportunity for members to develop initiative and leadership skills through service.
The Aktion Club program began in 1987. Today, more than 500 clubs further the Kiwanis International mission of serving the children of the world.

Aktion Club Week, March 5-9 this year, recognized people of all abilities who join to help their community. Throughout the week, members of the Lee’s Summit Club created blankets for Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter and bagged dog food for Angel Heart’s Rescue. They performed random acts of kindness in the community and have showcased their activities on social media. Kiwanis Aktion Club partnered with the Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation to promote random acts of kindness in the community on March 7.

On Friday, March 8, the Lee’s Summit Kiwanis Club and the Kiwanis Aktion Club joined together to Connect the K’s at Paradise Park to celebrate their accomplishments throughout the year. Paradise Park is a sponsor of this event. Members of each club participated in fun activities and recognize the importance of community service and partnership. The event consisted of ice breaker activities, refreshments and laser tag. It was a great way to connect the two clubs and show partnership in the community.
