The City of Lee’s Summit is inviting the public to provide feedback on an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice report before it is finalized and submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City is hosting a public hearing on May 8 at 4 p.m. in City Hall, 220 SE Green St. There will also be a public review and comment period from May 9 through June 10.
There are a variety of ways for the public to submit their comments. Options are available on the City’s website, cityofLS.net/Development. The purpose of the analysis is to identify barriers to fair housing choice and access to opportunities and establish future goals and strategies to address these barriers.
The draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice report is available at City Hall and the Mid-Continent Public Library’s Lee’s Summit Branch and Colbern Road Branch. An electronic version is available on the City’s website.
The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice is a federal mandate for all entitlement grant recipients through the Department of Housing and Urban Development and must be conducted every three to five years. Lee’s Summit is an entitlement city, receiving the Community Development Block Grant to support local programs benefitting low-to-moderate income individuals and families as well as addressing slum or blight.
