January 30, 1955 ~ July 15, 2019

Wesley “Frank” Slaughter Jr. transitioned to his heavenly home on July 15th, 2019 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 30th, 1955 and was the only son to Wesley Frank Slaughter and Edith Anne Snow.

Frank was lovingly raised on the Diamond S Ranch in Lee’s Summit Missouri with his beautiful and charismatic sister’s Patricia Slaughter-Prewitt and Mary Slaughter-Longacre. Frank graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1973.

Frank loved his life on the ranch with his family, but he also loved music and to travel as well. His free spirit would take him on several journeys as a young man. He would travel the west coast and many other places with his guitar in hand and singing in his heart.

After a short time, Frank came home, settled down on the ranch where he began his family. As his family grew his faith in God grew as well, He was on fire for the Lord. Frank made it his mission in life to share the gospel, even on his lunch break at the Sweet Lumber Company. Frank’s love for Lord and music would draw him into service as a praise and worship leader. His passion for God, would eventually move him to collaborate with likeminded men and start the Church we know and love, Open Range Fellowship in Lone Jack Mo.

Frank was also an accomplished writer and poet. He continued to write up until his final days. He completed a bible study that is in the process of being published and co-wrote a book with one of his daughters.

Frank had many qualities, but one of his greatest qualities was the love he carried for his wife Brenda. His love for his wife was like no other love, they had many wonderful years together. Frank and Brenda J Slaughter were married on June 1, 1991. They lovingly parented nine wonderful children, they were blessed with 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Frank Slaughter, Sr. on January 6, 2014; his mother, Edith Ann (Snow) Slaughter on January 7, 2018, and his sister, Mary Longacre on January 28, 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Slaughter of the home; two sons, Wesley Frank Slaughter, III and wife Molly of Belton, MO, and Shawn Decker and wife Jessica of Lowry City, MO; seven daughters, Betsy Slaughter and husband Don Fletcher, Katrina Pigue and husband Chris, Katie Roark and husband Bill, Laura Slaughter, and Anna Minor, all of Lee’s Summit, MO., Amanda Brunstein and husband Mike of Coolidge, AZ., and Jenna Decker of Orrick, MO; one sister, Patty Prewitt of Vandalia, MO.; 30 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relative and all his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Frank Slaughter’s 64 years of life has left a Legacy for the world. A legacy that will continue to grow the Kingdom of God.

Mathew 25:23 His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

In honor of Frank Slaughter, Jr., a Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019 at L.S.C.C., 1440 SW Jefferson St. Lee’s Summit, MO. 64081, with Pastor Tony Nunn officiating.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks, contributions may be made to Open Range Fellowship Missionary Fund and sent in care of Open Range Fellowship, 509 W. Lone Jack Lee’s Summit Road, Lone Jack, Missouri 64070.

Blessings come in all sizes but when God directed me to Open Range Fellowship and Frank; I never imagined it would be so big.
Praising our good Lord for the journey I was given, although too short.
Prayers for Brenda and all his family. We know the Lord has set aside a special place for each one of us! We WILL see Frank again!!

A fitting tribute, but a huge understatement to the truly great man Frank was and is! Love him, his family, and the entire gang at Open Range. So sorry I cannot be there for the memorial.

So blessed to have met Frank Slaughter and all the rest of the Slaughters. Open Range Fellowship has been a blessing. One of the biggest blessings ever was to have met this man, his family and ORF. I’m a better person from knowing them all. God bless one of the lords most faithful servants.
