Lee’s Summit MO Police Department

On Sep. 17, 2019 at approximately 12:10 p.m. an officer observed a motorcycle that was travelling above the posted speed limit and driving erratically in the area of 291 Highway and Langsford Road. When the officer attempted to stop the motorcycle, it fled the area at a high rate of speed and travelled north on 291 Highway; the officer discontinued the pursuit.

A short time later a motorist called dispatch and told them that a motorcyclist had passed them on I-470 at a high rate of speed and then pulled to the shoulder with engine trouble. The caller stated the male subject was trying to hide the motorcycle in the tree line on the east side of I-470 south of the Strother Road interchange.

Officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter around the area; deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office including their K-9 assisted along with Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A.

The suspect was located on foot near the area of Todd George Road and Leinweber Road. The suspect, a 39 year old male from Pleasant Hill, Missouri was taken into custody without incident.

Investigation at the scene revealed that the motorcycle was stolen in Lee’s Summit back in 2018. Investigators will complete the case and submit it to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office for the filing of charges.
