Hello, Lee’s Summit! My name is Tim Shrout and I am running for Lee’s Summit City Council to represent all citizens of District 2. My objective is to champion issues that impact and improve the lives of every single person, not just gird up the foundations of the most influential and powerful. I am excited to be an advocate for our Police and Firefighters, to promote diversity in our city, and to serve our most vulnerable populations in Lee’s Summit. In addition, growth is an important consideration in making Lee’s Summit the thriving community it is. Building, development, and improving infrastructure are all parts of decisions that must be made in the coming years. Finally, our businesses and business owners are extremely important in our community. I will strive to make decisions that benefit our small business owners and citizens alike.

I have lived in Lee’s Summit for 25 years and I have seen this town grow from a bedroom community to a thriving center of the arts with amazing dining and entertainment options and a vibrant downtown. I have seen 2 children through Lee’s Summit Schools and I have one currently attending. I have served on a number of volunteer boards and commissions, including:

I am excited to step up to the plate and offer to help in new ways by running for city council. Should I be elected, I will encourage the development of diverse and affordable housing options while maintaining the high-quality standards our citizens have come to expect; promote kind and civil discourse; and advocate for a community that is culturally diverse, fair-minded, and rich with opportunities for our ever-growing population.
