Officer Involved Shooting Leaves One Injured

Raytown, MO- On May 24th, 2020 at approximately 5:23 P.M., Raytown Police were called to the 6000 block of Kentucky, in regard to a disturbance with a possibly armed subject.

Officers arrived on scene and located the possibly armed subject. Moments later, during the encounter, one officer fired, striking the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released to police custody. Officers were not injured during the incident.

The officer was placed on routine administrative leave. Raytown Police requested that the Missouri State Highway Patrol conduct the investigation.

Statement from MSHP Troop A:

Today, approx 5:23pm., Raytown Police were called to the 6000 block of Kentucky, in regard to disturbance w/ a subject who was possibly armed. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect. Moments later, during the encounter, one officer fired his duty weapon.The suspect was struck and injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released to police custody.

Officers were not injured during the incident.
Raytown Police requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug & Crime Control conduct the officer involved shooting investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
