Students interested in exploring careers in applied architectural or mechanical engineering 3D CADD have the opportunity to learn valuable technical and creative skills in a new online summer course, offered by the University of Central Missouri’s Design and Drafting Program. The flexible, self-paced course will be offered June 15 through Aug. 10.

Architectural and Mechanical 3D CADD (Computer-Automated Design and Drafting) will provide students with opportunities to learn and practice the technical and creative skills needed to succeed in job environments that include architects, engineers, designers, engineering technicians, and other professionals. In this course, students create 2D drawings and 3D models of objects, structures, and machines using Autodesk Inventor and Revit 2020 software, and complete engaging activities to explore and discover their fields of interest.

Depending on each participant’s learning-and-life styles, this flexible, self-paced course will include up to eight hours of educational activities. Students can complete these hours anytime between June 15 and Aug. 10. Students enrolled in this summer camp will also have the option to participate in a design competition to win a $25 gift card.

High school students who have used the above-mentioned programs in their Project Lead The Way courses will also learn more advanced CAD skills. The cost is $249 with an early bird discount of $25 available for students signing up on or before June 12. For more information, visit this webpage.

Information about an additional summer program, Black Rocket Computer Science Online Programs for students from 8 to 14, is also available on this webpage. A number of courses are offered in areas such as video game design and animation, inventing, programming, coding and YouTube content creation. Classes are available in morning or afternoon one-week sessions, June 8 through Aug. 10.
