Coldwater’s 15th annual Crank Out Hunger bike ride to benefit its Food Pantry begins at 7 a.m., Saturday, August 12, at 777 NW Blue Parkway in the north parking lot of Lee’s Summit Integration Campus. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Coldwater Food Pantry, which has experienced a 45% increase in visits to its food pantry over the past year.

Coldwater is a Lee’s Summit-based nonprofit providing food and clothing for families in need. Coldwater distributes around 200,000 pounds of food every year through the Food Pantry. The pantry also provides hygiene items such as toilet paper, tooth paste, and soap, and household items such as detergent. The pantry and clothes closet are open Monday through Friday by appointment and two Saturdays a month.

The Crank Out Hunger bike ride will feature three routes – 20 miles, 48 miles and 68 miles. To see each route, you can visit the Coldwater website, www.coldwater.me. Each rider receives a t-shirt and lunch with the $40 registration. At the end of the ride, everyone will return to the starting location for lunch and live music from 10 am to 2 pm. Aristo’s Curbside & Catering will provide the food for the event. Registration is available through the website.

Raffle tickets are available when you register, the night before at packet pick up, and prior to the start of the ride on the day of the event. They are 1 for $5 and 5 for $20. Prizes include gift cards from Bicycle Shack and Bike Stop.

The sponsors this year are State Farm – Jim Hallam; Julia Hampton, CPS, PC; Bicycle Shack; Dave’s Bike Shop; Allstate – Jenny Schweitzer Cook; RecoverRX KC; and Bike Stop.
