A lot was said all week about a Lee’s Summit North vs Lee’s Summit rivalry game on Friday night.
The game that was talked about the most was a football game to be played at Lee’s Summit high.
Earlier on Friday, Both Lee’s Summit and Lee’s Summit North played a rivalry game but this was Boys Soccer.
The two rivals played in what was promoted as the “Crosstown Showdown” as both teams continue to enjoy a winning season in 2018 as this
Soccer match benefited ColdWater!
The game remained scoreless until just over 6 minutes left in the first half when Senior Midfielder Kyle Rock scored for the home team putting the Broncos up 1-0. The score would remain the same at half time as both teams left the field.
The second half was much the same as the teams kept up the defensive pressure on the other. Jackson Wood, a Senior Midfielder, put the Tigers on the board to even the game at 1.
The two teams remained locked at a 1 all tie through two 10 minute sudden death overtimes. Then the two teams when to a shoot out where Lee’s Summit won 4-2 which gave the visiting Tigers a 2-1 victory.
Throughout the lengthy game that saw both teams fight hard it was evident as several players and Lee’s Summit North Coach Ryan Kelley received yellow card cautions.
Both the Broncos and Tigers look forward to post season play later this month.
