Located in the “heart of the city”, downtown Lee’s Summit is a creative community offering many locally-owned specialty shops, boutiques, a bed and breakfast inn, and an eclectic variety of casual and fine-dining restaurants and taverns. New residential lofts and adjacent historic neighborhoods make downtown an excellent place to call home. Downtown Lee’s Summit surrounds the historic depot and Amtrak train station, and the Historical Society of Lee’s Summit and Museum is located within the festival site, which will be open to the public during the festival.

With a population nearing 100,000, Lee’s Summit is the sixth largest city in both the state of Missouri and in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Residents reap the benefits of some of the best economic circumstances and quality of life of any US city. Visual and performing art programs presented by Summit Art, the Lee’s Summit Symphony and the Summit Theater Group contribute to a vibrant community that embraces cultural arts initiatives. The unique combination of historical preservation, with progressive attitudes and entrepreneurship, help create a dynamic sense of place, making downtown Lee’s Summit the ideal location for our fine art event!

Student Art Pavilion: You will find a large pavilion showcasing over 200 pieces of selected works of art created by students from Lee’s Summit’s area high schools and middle schools. Children will be able to enjoy free face-painting on Saturday courtesy of area art students.

Artist Amenities: Ensuring that each artist is well taken care is one of the top priorities of the Summit Art Festival. Festival management has over 11 years of experience with extensive festival promotion, marketing and advertising. The festival has an indoor restroom facility for artists’ use and an artist lounge area with snacks and beverages. In addition, a complimentary lunch is delivered to the artist’s booth. Electricity is included in the booth fee and there is a large volunteer base (including booth sitters) to assist artists. Free, nearby artist parking simplifies loading and unloading and the festival has 24-hour security. Finally, over $3,600 in cash and awards will be awarded.
