Margaret Elizabeth Macklin, 85, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed on October 5, 2018 at Wilshire at Lakewood. Margaret was born to Francis and Elizabeth (Bryant) Knapp on January 15, 1933 in Detroit, MI. Margaret was raised in Detroit and attended the Metropolitan Methodist Church there. On May 23, 1959 she married William Macklin Sr in the chapel of the National College for Christian Women Workers in Kansas City, MO of which she was a student.

After living in Chicago for 2 years, she and Bill moved to Lee’s Summit to start their family. They were blessed with three sons, William Jr., Walt, and Charlie all of Lee’s Summit.

Margaret was a member of the Lee’s Summit United Methodist for 57 years and an active member of United Methodist Women, Martha Circle, Renaissance Sunday School Class and Westview PTA. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and husband. She loved playing ping-pong and other games with friends during birthday celebrations. Her boys agree that she made the best apple pie ever.

Her husband, Bill, preceded Margaret in death. Her three sons, William Edward Macklin Jr., Walter Macklin, and Charlie Macklin of Lee’s Summit, MO. survive her. All who knew her will miss her kind and compassionate nature.

Services, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Visitation 10 a.m., Celebration of Life follows 11 a.m. Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church, 2nd and Douglas, Lees Summit, MO. She will be placed with her husband at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial in her honor can be made to the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church.
