Dear Lee’s Summit Citizens,

Just to let you know, in case you were unaware – the City has decided we need to change our zoning from agricultural to high density apartments – they want more affordable housing built by an out of town developer with a bad reputation – Artisan Point – who will bring in out of town subcontractors to build these and then as soon as they get 21 percent vacancy because they are known for not upkeeping – and even admit that they are a 50 percent turn over rate every year – this horrible idea directly effects you guys, too – lower property values across the city, higher crime which spreads our first responders thinner and over crowding in our school district who

Already claims not to have enough Funds. The city wants this 580 unit, 3 story high monstrosity to go in just north of 50 Hwy next to Highland Park Elementary School. They only alerted the citizens a couple of weeks ago but have known about it and have been working with this developer since January. The zoning meeting to change the zoning is this Thursday.

If you are a Lee’s Summit citizen and don’t want this, please sign the Protest Petition below, and email it to: MarleneKAlley@aol.com and show up at the zoning meeting this Thursday at city hall at 5:00 and join other concerned citizens for a responsible development for Lee’s Summit.

Also, please call and email and let your city council know this development isn’t right for Lee’s Summit and Lee’s Summit needs to dent this rezoning and develop a comprehensive responsible development plan for Lee’s Summit and include the citizens in that decision! Any questions? Let me know. We need these signed petitions back before the zoning meeting on Thursday.

Can you start an online petition, I think that would yield better results.

This is exactly the way the Valley Oaks group of companies worked with the Johnson County Mo comissioners to put a cattle feedlot right next to hundreds of existing homes in Lone Jack.
Don’t let your local government blindside you Lee’s Summit!
