The Kansas City Mavericks are off to a hot start in the 2018-19 season and the team has a pair of Jordans to thank for that. The Mavs, at 6-1-1, are enjoying the work of a pair of rookies named Jordan, one is Jordan Klimek and the other is Jordan Ernst.

Both rookies scored their first pro goals in the same game, a Mavericks win over the Indy Fuel on Sat. Oct, 27th. Ernst is in the team’s starting lineup and has seen action in all seven games played so far this season.

Ernie, as his new teammates call him, calls the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks his favorite pro sports team. The Blackhawks are pretty big in his family. Ernst’s hometown is Mokena, Illinois where his mom, dad and two older brothers root him on. The talented left hander may have scored his first career goal as a Maverick but his favorite hockey memory so far remains back in Chicago. In 2014 Ernie was on a team that won the Catholic league championship.

Ernst first put on a pair of skates just after one year old thanks to his brothers who had found a rink for all of them to go to. The rookie forward’s favorite website to go to is social media websites like Twitter and Instagram used to catch up on everything. If not in pro hockey today Ernie feels he would probably be in the military. Ernst’s favorite foods include steak and some sushi. His favorite sports movie is “Miracle” like many of his current team mates.

Following his playing days Ernie wishes to be remembered as an “Agitator that scores goals.” On scoring his first pro goal on Sat. Oct. 27 in a 7-2 home win over Indy Ernst simply says, “Was nice, nice to getting out of the way early.”

Check out Ernie and all of his new teammates on Tuesday morning Nov. 13 when the Mavericks host their annual school day game against rival Wichita Thunder. The fun begins when the puck drops inside the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena at 10:35 a.m.
