On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 Richard Karl Poos of Independence, MO passed away at the age of 68.

Richard was born on June 22, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to Edward and Pauline Poos. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1968 and had an Associates of Arts in Accounting. He worked at Truman Medical Center Lakewood for 36 years and was a member of Local Union 101 for 40 years. He was also certified by the union to teach heating and cooling. On June 6, 1984 he married Linda Darlene Pearce.
Richard had a passion for helping people; he would do anything from fixing cars to snow removal. He also loved spending time in his garden and playing with his grandchildren. Donating blood and platelets was very near and dear to his heart. He made 504 blood donations, 63 gallons, which saved over 500 lives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and his mother, Pauline, and his granddaughter Eva May. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his four children, Lori, Kelley, Russell, and Karla, his two sisters, Linda and Dyanne, 14 grandchildren and many other relatives.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at New Springs Community Church 1800 NE Independence Ave Lee’s Summit, MO 64086 from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations to be made to Community Blood Center ATTN: Cherie Erickson 4040 Main St. Kansas City, MO 64111
