In March 2015, Grant Joseph Hitchcock joined Boy Scout Troop 42. In July he earned his Tenderfoot. In 2016 he earned Second Class in January, First Class in August and Star in December. He completed his Life rank in June of 2017. Grant earned his Eagle Scout in August 2018. Additionally he earned a Gold Eagle Palm

During his time in Scouting, Eric served his Troop as Den Chief, Quartermaster and Patrol Leader.

He attended summer camp at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation where he began his trail of Mic-O-Say last summer as a Foxman. He was called to join the Tribe this past summer as a Brave and chose the name Burning Sycamore.

Additionally, Grant is an Ordeal Member of the Order of the Arrow National Scouting Honor Society, a 12-Month Camper and has earned the National Outdoor Award-Camping, World Conservation Award and the Arrow of Light.

Grant’s Eagle Scout Service Project was to refurbish and stain the exterior stairwell at the Lee’s Summit campus of Hope House Foundation main office building. Replacing worn and damaged treads, building siding and staining the stairwell to enhance the appearance of the facility through grants and donations. The Hope House provides shelter of over 80 families of domestic violence. A total of 112 service hours were completed as part of this project.
