Cold weather, yes, but people with “warm hearts” will fill Longview Mansion at 6 p.m., Saturday evening, February 2. That is when the 11th annual “Empty Bowls” event will be held, sponsored by Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary. “Feeding Our Community” continues to be the 2019 theme of “Empty Bowls.”

Money raised will help provide food for Lee’s Summit residents in need. Charities this year are One Good Meal, Meals on Wheels, Coldwater and Lee’s Summit Social Services.

Your ticket purchase of $50/each will allow you to take home a one-of-a-kind ceramic bowl crafted by a local artist.

Ticket holders receive samplings of the best local restaurants’ soups, homemade breads, and desserts. Wine, beer and soft drinks will also be available. Unique items will also be auctioned during the event, held at the newly remodeled historic Longview Mansion.

“Empty Bowls” is held annually the day prior to the NFL Super Bowl. In the last ten years Sunrise Rotary has donated over $115,000 to local food charities from this popular event.

Empty Bowls provides a great opportunity to enjoy an evening of tasting soups, breads and desserts of local restaurants while supporting local charities reaching the needs within our community.
