Datha Lee Taylor, 85, a resident of Seasons Memory Care Center, went to join her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 25, 2019.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 12-1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, 2 NE Douglas St. Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Burial to follow at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery.

Datha was born April 23, 1933 in Miller, MO, the daughter of Violet (Carpenter) Johnson. Datha grew up in the Carthage area. She wed Harry “Dean” Taylor on May 17, 1953 at the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, where she was employed as a secretary for more than 25 years, as well as a life-long member.

In retirement, she remained active in the church in many ways, was an avid quilter, made wedding cakes, and spent time with her family.

Datha is survived by her three children, Gregory (Karen) Taylor of Lee’s Summit, MO; Danial (Karen) Taylor of Pleasant Hill, MO; and Polly (Chad) Ferguson of Salisbury, NC; a sister, Wilda Crow of Carthage, MO; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Taylor; mother, Violet; five brothers, Murl Johnson; Allen (A.V.) Johnson; Victor Johnson; and John D. Johnson; and three sisters, Atha Cole; Alma Vaneck; and Clovis DeNitto.
