The City of Lee’s Summit has entered into an agreement with KC Dumpster Company to provide a variety of disposal services at the Resource Recovery Park, located at 2101 SE Hamblen Rd. Available disposal services include household trash, household hazardous waste, recycling, and yard and brush disposal.
The Resource Recovery Park accepts household trash from residential customers for a fee. On-site employees are available to assist customers with unloading. A variety of items can be recycled, including tires, appliances, electronics, cardboard, scrap metal, mattresses/box springs and clean concrete, block and brick. Fees apply and vary per item.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) disposal is now available at the Resource Recovery Park. Residents can dispose of a variety of HHW materials Monday through Saturday without an appointment and for a small fee. These items include antifreeze, batteries and latex paint. For additional details, visit LSpda.com.
On the first Saturday of each month, the Resource Recovery Park will host a free Household Hazardous Waste event for Lee’s Summit residents and residents of communities that participate in the Regional HHW Program. There is a 100-pound limit per visit and a valid ID showing city of residence is required. Customers must make an appointment in advance by calling the Resource Recovery Park at 816-550-1612. The first HHW event will be June 1.
The Resource Recovery Park accepts yard waste and brush disposal. Brush is mulched and compost is produced from grass and leaves. Both are available for sale at the facility.
The City’s landfill reached permitted capacity in April, after 37 years of operation. To continue a safe and convenient means of waste disposal for residents, waste is collected in dumpsters at the Resource Recovery Park, which are hauled away daily.
