Gary Wendell Fenton, 79, of Independence, Missouri passed away on September 17, 2019.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd Raytown, Missouri. A graveside service will be following the visitation at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville beginning at 1 p.m. Mr. Fenton was born on August 26, 1940 in Carthage, Missouri.

Gary was a highly decorated Airborne Ranger serving 20 years in the United States Army. He served 3.5 yours in Vietnam as a LRP. He was highly revered by all who knew him.

He earned three purple hearts and many other service awards and medals. His family and friends knew him as a rascal and a warrior until the end. He was a hero to many.

He was preceded in death by his father Frank, mother Hazel and his brother Rex.

Survivors include his wife Geraldine (Carol), his children; Gary, John (Melissa), and Jeri, step-children; Teresa (Boyd), Robin, Marcus (Kimberly), and Holly (David) and a sea of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
