Rick was born on August 7, 1959 in Kansas City, MO to Ray and Karen Weeda. He lived his entire life in Lee’s Summit, MO and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1977. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he graduated in 1982 with a degree in finance. He worked 45 years in the banking industry starting at the age of 16 and continuing through August 5th of this year. The day he passed was his retirement date.

Rick married the love of his life, Susan, on November 2, 1991. They were inseparable until the end. Rick enjoyed golfing, hiking, and watching Chiefs football, always with Susan by his side. Rick and Susan went to Las Vegas more times than they could count. Rick’s pride and joy were his wife and his two daughters, Lisa and Jamie. He was their protector, biggest fan, and main source of entertainment. He humbly bragged on his girls whenever given the opportunity.

Rick was known for his kindness and calm nature, but especially for his quick wit and humor followed by that special grin, which will be sorely missed.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Weeda; paternal grandparents, Irvin and Opal Weeda; and maternal grandparents, Jack and Trula Steen.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Susan Weeda; his daughters Lisa Morris (Todd) and Jamie Weeda; his father, Ray Weeda; his brother, Randy Weeda (Diane); his sister, Kim Weddle (Tim); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who adored him.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue; Dallas, TX 75231 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Rick will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him. Someday we will understand why this happened.
