An exciting new addition to the Kansas City Mavericks roster is defenseman Mike Lee. Lee, who wears #23, was acquired in a trade from the Indy Fuel on February 16th for Bryan Lemos and future considerations.

Lee is in his second year of pro hockey having spent time in Indy and now here in Kansas City. Lee was an ECHL All Star and represented the Fuel at the ECHL All Star Classic played in January.

Mike’s new teammates call him Spike. Lee is used to that nickname as he was first given the name back in high school as a freshman. Mike’s favorite pro sports team is the NFL’s New York Giants. Reason for that is Lee hails from Connecticut and admits to being a die-hard since he was a kid.

Mike’s hometown is Hamden, Connecticut where his parents and an older brother still root him on from home. Lee’s favorite hockey memory so far was winning the Connecticut Ice Tourney. Lee accomplished this feat when he was a senior. This tourney is where all four Division I hockey programs in the state get together and play a tournament.

Mike first put on a pair of skates at age five and his favorite website to visit daily is Wordle. If not in pro hockey today Lee would be working in the finance field. Lee already holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree to prepare him for a career as an investment manager.

Lee’s favorite food is a steak and quickly admits his favorite sports movie is “Remember the Titans.” Following his playing days Lee wishes to be remembered as a great person to have in the locker room. Lee’s quick success since becoming a Maverick he feels is “due to playing with good players, makes it easy.”

Check out Lee and the rest of the Mavericks when they host the Wichita Thunder on Sunday, Mar. 6. The fun inside the Cable Dahmer Arena begins when the puck drops at 4:05 p.m.
